I decided this time around I wanted Skybolt fasteners along the bottom of the cowl. Getting the hinges in and out and getting all greasy doing so wan’t my bag. The fasteners are pretty easy to install. Take note, it’s a lot easier to countersink the tabs before they are riveted on. And it may be a lot easier to rivet the lock itself to the tabs before mounting, depending upon where the tab is on the firewall or cowl side. You can see that I have the Fire Barrier 2000+ all around the perimeter of the cowl now.
Getting the holes perfectly drilled in the cowl is pretty simple. Mount the cowl and use a small bright flashlight to backlight the hole and eyeball it.
