Pulled out the Todd’s canopy because, it’s next!
Drilled the hinge on the door. Deburred everything and removed the plastic. Bent the lower portion slightly. She’s a beaut.
I’ll have to do a little more refinement on the lower portion. I did fit it with the upper cowl in place but since I don’t have the oil door cut out yet I was unable to get the hinges in, which will stiffen up the top of the firewall. Speaking of oil door. I did not receive one. Maybe make one instead.
Drilled the cowl side hinges to the lower cowl. The top part of the hing is -3 which is what is called for. The lower hinge is -4 which is wider. This allows the hinge to sit higher which does two things; 1) allows for easier installation of the top cowl 2) covers the gap between the upper and lower cowl. I don’t know if this actually will prevent some air from spilling out between the cowls but if it does it should make the plane at least 10 kts faster. yep.
