I’m allergic to bees and don’t need them needlessly flying around the cockpit so I purchased some screen from mcmaster.com a while ago. The mesh size of the screen can significantly reduce airflow so according to their flow information I purchased Easy-to-Form 304 Stainless Steel Wire Cloth Sheets, 4 x 4 Mesh, 0.222″ Opening, 1 Foot x 1 Foot. This will flow nicely. Now how to form it to fit into the NACA duct?
Size a clamp exactly the size of the NACA vent outlet. Create a disc of heavy aluminum that will fit inside the clamp. Use a press and force mold the part.
The resulting shape is perfect.
Trim this a bit and fit it into a part of the same diameter, in this case the mount for the fresh air nozzle.
Now RTV it into place into the NACA ducts. Photos shown before RTV applied.
