After reading lots of posts on Vansairforce I decided to do the insulation on the hot side of the firewall. This will create a better thermal barrier which theoretically can increase the time a pilot has to get the plane down in case of a firewall forward fire. It’s also why I have redone the tunnel in stainless steel. The concept is to insulate the firewall the with a very good but thin barrier and cover it with stainless shim stock. The edges of the insulation are sealed with a fire barrier caulking. You can read all about it on Vansairforce.
First I need a template of the firewall.
Then cut the Ceramic Insulation to fit.
I did the same thing with the stainless steel shim stock. I bought all this stuff from McMaster-Carr. Best website in the world.
