Pops and I spent a couple of days removing everything from the plane and vacuuming, cleaning and prepping for paint. \u00a0This morning we scotchbrited (is that a word?) the entire interior and wiped down with Acetone. \u00a0We did this twice. \u00a0Then we taped off everything below the floor level. \u00a0Extra paint there is a waste of paint and weight. \u00a0Also, when you tape it closed you can’t blow around any of the crud that is down there\u00a0while painting.<\/p>\n

As with the last plane, I’m painting with SW JetFlex WR. \u00a0The color is FS 36170 in semi gloss. \u00a0I bought a pint for $129. \u00a0Supposedly it’s the color of the F 35 Joint Strike Fighter. \u00a0Bought a new HVLP gun from Harbor Freight for $59. \u00a0The old guns I had were toast. \u00a0I don’t take good care of them but for $59 who really cares. \u00a0 I love the color and I only had a few runs.<\/p>\n

Everything got a coat of paint. \u00a0We only used about 2\/3 of the pint, reduced with about 15% distilled water. \u00a0We are ready to start final assembly.<\/p>\n
