{"id":1091,"date":"2015-12-01T15:26:33","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T23:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/?p=1091"},"modified":"2015-12-01T15:30:21","modified_gmt":"2015-12-01T23:30:21","slug":"firewall-passthrough-aux-alternator-90-degree-oil-adaptor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/?p=1091","title":{"rendered":"Firewall Passthrough, Aux Alternator, 90 Degree Oil Adaptor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I cut to of the three throttle\/mixture\/prop firewall passthroughs. \u00a0Started with a #40 then stepped up with a unibit until the hole was large enough to use my el cheapo Harbor Freight hole cutters. \u00a0One inch is perfect. \u00a0Just for reference the hole cutters sliced through the firewall, insulation and ss overcoat with ease and without tearing the ss overcoat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1086\" src=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image-700x525.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image-700x525.jpeg 700w, http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image-150x113.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1087\" src=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image1-700x525.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image1-700x525.jpeg 700w, http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image1-150x113.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Installed the steel passthroughs after drilling all the holes. \u00a0I will resize the holes when I am sure of the cable diameter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image2.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1088\" src=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image2-700x525.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image2-700x525.jpeg 700w, http:\/\/tondu.com\/rv8a\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/image2-150x113.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I needed to get the 90 degree oil filter adaptor and aux alternator done before hanging the engine while access is excellent. \u00a0Removed the existing oil filter adaptor, left pmag and vernatherm. \u00a0Installed aux alternator and torqued all nuts with a special thin Snap-on tool bought earlier. \u00a0Then removed the single bolt from the case using the two nuts back to back method and installed the 90 degree oil filter adaptor. \u00a0I opted to not install the 1.4 inch thick spacer which came with the oil filter adaptor. \u00a0The oil filter is easily accessible. \u00a0My only concern is will the oil filter touch or come too close to the engine mount when installed. \u00a0I guess we will see. \u00a0Used permatex on all gaskets. \u00a0I still need to torque the vernatherm and safety wire it, the oil temperature probe and oil filter. \u00a0We are almost ready to hang this bad boy. \u00a0Oh, and I checked;
